How desktop wallpapers work on Rate Cock
The one part of the site that is purely yours to decorate. Finding a background, applying it, getting back to the default, and how your pick is kept.
Free backgrounds, published by creators
Wallpapers on Rate Cock are creator-published backgrounds for your desktop. They cost nothing, need no account, and apply the moment you tap one. Open them from the Wallpapers icon on the right edge of the desktop, or read the Wallpapers page first.
They are one of the few things on the site that are fully usable for free rather than free to look at - what you can do without paying has the whole list.
Finding one
The search box matches on wallpaper title or on creator name, so you can look for a style or for a person. Tap a creator chip to see only that creator’s backgrounds.
If you already know whose work you like, the shortcut runs through their profile instead, covered below.
Applying one, and going back
Tap a card and it applies to your desktop immediately, with a tick on the card to show it is the active one. There is no confirm step and nothing to save.
To go back, tap the active card again, or use "Reset to default background". Trying several in a row costs nothing, so the quickest way to choose is to tap through a few and see them behind your own windows.
Where your choice is kept
Signed out, your choice is kept in the browser. That follows the usual rules of browser storage: browser-stored data persists when you close and reopen the browser, but a private or incognito window deletes what it stored when it closes, so a wallpaper picked there will not be waiting next time.
Signed in, the choice is kept on your account and follows you between devices. A choice you made before signing up carries over to your account the first time, so registering does not reset it.
Opened from a judge profile
Every judge profile on the judge panel links through to that judge’s published wallpapers, and the Wallpapers button there opens the picker already filtered to her, so you see only her work. The same profile links to her premade clips, filtered the same way.
